Schedule: Full-time with flexible hours. Mostly 9:00am to 5:00pm with some evening and weekends.
Contract Start Date: Monday, May 8, 2017
Contract End Date: Friday, September 22, 2017
**Note: the position will be part-time from September 6th to accommodate the academic schedules of returning students**
Compensation:

  • $15.00 per hour at 35 hours per week; AND
  • Room and board in the UC Residences for the Summer 2017 session (single room only, no meal plans, as a taxable benefit)

Job Description:

Under general direction of the Dean of Students and residence and student life staff at University College, the Student Life Intern - Orientation & Mentorship will provide support to the staff of the Office of the Dean of Students in the development and implementation of the College's orientation and transition programs, as well as our on-going mentorship initiatives.  Specific duties include:

  • Coordinating "Thrive" - University College's alternative orientation program for students who are choosing not to participate in traditional orientation
  • Working in collaboration with the Orientation Coordinators on the development and implementation of academic orientation events embedded in the traditional Orientation schedule
  • Supporting the College's Summer Welcome Sessions
  • Supporting the E-Mentorship program for incoming first year students
  • Assisting with the planning of the Career Mentorship Program
  • Working in collaboration with the staff of the Office of the Dean of Students in the development and refinement of the College's other mentorship programming

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of University College, its residences, its student life programs, and the Commuter Student Centre
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with various social media platforms
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and Adobe CS an asset
