Schedule: Full-time with flexible hours. Mostly 9:00am to 5:00pm.  Please note that there will be evening and weekend events that the Intern will be expected to attend.
Contract Start Date: Monday, May 7, 2018
Contract End Date: Friday, September 28, 2018
**Note: the position will be part-time from September 6th to accommodate the academic schedules of returning students**


  • $17.00 per hour at 35 hours per week (unless otherwise specified).

Job Description:

Under general direction of the Dean of Students and residence and student life staff at University College, the Student Life Intern - Orientation & Mentorship will provide support to the staff of the Office of the Dean of Students in the development and implementation of the College's orientation and transition programs, as well as our on-going mentorship initiatives.  Specific duties include:

  • Coordinating “Thrive”, University College’s two-day Orientation program for students who choose not to participate in the traditional Orientation program
  • Supporting the first year E-Mentorship Program
  • Coordinating PRE-UofT, and academic orientation event for students in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • Supporting the development and implementation of academic orientation sessions
  • Supporting student transition activities over the summer months such as Summer Welcome Sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Preference will be given to University of Toronto students
  • Experience planning events or programs
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Experience with Orientation planning an asset
  • Knowledge of University College an asset
