The Office of the Dean of Students is currently accepting applications for both Mentors and E-Mentors for the UC Mentorship Program beginning August 2013.
University College E-Mentoring Program
We are currently seeking approximately 40 upper-year students who are interested in spending a few hours (2-3 hours) each week from mid-August to the end of October, mentoring students as they transition to university. The program has been specifically designed to be flexible and convenient for both mentors and mentees, making it the perfect program for those students who wish to get involved but may live off-campus and/or have limited time to devote to co-curricular opportunities.
This is a volunteer opportunity.
To learn more about the program and/or to submit an application, please visit the E-Mentorship Application page. Applications are due on July 29, 2013.
University College Mentorship Program
We are currently seeking approximately 6 upper-year students who are interested in spending approximately 10-12 hours per month, mentoring new students in small-groups and one-on-one. The UC Mentorship Program matches 16-20 students with two mentors in their academic area (Humanities & Social Sciences, Life Sciences or Commerce). Mentors will provide structured programming, such as academic workshops and social events, to ease the transition into university life for their mentees. In the second semester, mentees will have the opportunity to work with their mentors on a community engagement project to receive a notation on their co-curricular record.
This is a volunteer opportunity with a $600 honorarium upon completion of the program.
To learn more about the program and/or to submit an application, please view the UC Mentors Application Package. Applications are due on July 29, 2013.
