UC Student James Bird Designs Memorial to Facilitate Conversation on Canada's Relationship with Indigenous People

When UC student James Bird dreamed up Words to Form, a quiet place to support the difficult conversations of reconciliation, he was himself immersed in conversations about reconciliation and what that could look like at U of T, and in Canada.

Bird’s work is part of a U of T exhibit taking a critical look at the agreements that shaped modern Canada. “It takes you through an educational journey of what treaties are and their impact on Indigenous land and traditional practices,” historian and co-curator Heidi Bohaker told Metro News.
