Job Descriptions

Student Life Assistant

As part of the team in the Office of the Dean of Students at University College, the Student Life Assistant will work collaboratively with the other staff to support the College's student life programming in the summer months, including planning and development of student life activities for the upcoming academic year. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the coordination – including development, delivery, and assessment – of First Year programs such as e-Mentorship, pre-UofT, and Orientation
  • Responding to inquiries regarding University College, its residences, and its student life programs in person, via telephone, and over email
  • Acting as an ambassador for the College and providing support at various events (e.g. Saturday Welcome Days)
  • Assisting with post-event and post-program assessments
  • Creating and updating materials for online communications
  • Ensuring a consistent presence on various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
  • Conducting tours of University College and its residences to prospective and newly admitted students from time to time
  • Providing program support and other related duties as required to the department when needed

 Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University College, its residences, its student life programs, and the Commuter Student Centre
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with various social media platforms
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and Adobe CS an asset

Residence Assistant

Job Description

As part of the team in the Office of the Dean of Students at University College, the Residence Assistant will work collaboratively with the other staff to suppor the College's residence operations in the summer months. Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Assisting with application and admission processes for summer and academic year housing
  • Conducting tours of the UC Residences to prospective and newly admitted students
  • Responding to inquiries regarding the UC residences and student life programs in person, via telephone, and over email
  • Creating and updating materials for online communications
  • Ensuring a consistent presence on various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
  • Acting as an ambassador for the College at various events
  • Providing administrative support and other related duties as required to the department when needed

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University College, its residences, and its student life programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with data entry and database management an asset
  • Experience with various social media platforms
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and Adobe CS an asset
