Contract End Date: Friday, September 22, 2017
**Note: the position will be part-time from September 6th to accommodate the academic schedules of returning students**

  • $15.00 per hour at 17.5 hours per week; AND
  • Room and board in the UC Residences for the Summer 2017 session (single room only, no meal plans, as a taxable benefit)

Job Description:

PRE U of T is a collaborative event that brings together students, staff and faculty from across the Faculty of Arts & Science to provide first year students with an orientation to their area of academic study.  The Student Life Intern - PRE U of T will work collaboratively with the University College Literary & Athletic Society's Orientation Coordinators as well as Orientation Coordinators from numerous other Colleges, the staff of the Office of the Dean of Students and members of the PRE U of T Steering Committee to coordinate and deliver all aspects of the PRE U of T orientation event.  Specific duties include:

  • Liaising with the University College Orientation Coordinators and other Orientation Coordinators regarding timing, content, communication, etc.
  • Participating as a member of the PRE U of T Steering Committee
  • Liaising with the PRE U of T student advisory committee
  • Facilitating all space bookings
  • Coordinating catering and supplies
  • Participating in the development and coordination of communications materials
  • Participating in the development of session content and ensuring that the event is aligned with the Step Forward framework in the Faculty of Arts & Science
  • Coordinating invitations for student groups, staff and faculty presenters
  • Assisting with the assessment of the event and in making recommendations for the future.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of University College, its residences, its student life programs, and the Commuter Student Centre
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with various social media platforms
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and Adobe CS an asset
