Scholarships & Awards

The Health Studies program recognizes student achievement each year by awarding three scholarships. The recipients of these scholarships will be determined by a committee with no application necessary. For details please contact staff at the Office of Academic Services

Dr. Carolyn Bennett Scholarship

The Dr. Carolyn Bennett Scholarship in Health Studies is awarded by the University College Office of the Registrar in conjunction with the Health Studies program. It is to be awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. Preference is given to students in the Health Studies Specialist program who are also conducting research as a part of their studies. 

Ruth Cooperstock Memorial Scholarship

The Ruth Cooperstock Memorial Scholarship is awarded by the University College Office of the Registrar. It is to be awarded on the basis of financial need, academic excellence, and community involvement in gender or addiction issues related to the socioeconomic determinants of health. This scholarship will be awarded to a University College student in the Health Studies or Sexual Diversity Studies programs, with preference being given to students in their fourth year of study. 

L. J. Fukakusa Scholarship

The L. J.Fukakusa Scholarship in Health Studies is generously provided by James Bryan and Timothy John Fukakusa, and is awarded by the University College Office of the Registrar in conjunction with the Health Studies program. It is to be awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Health Studies program  or taking a Health Studies course. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need.
