Program Assistant, Equity and Diversity (Job ID # 102706)

Job Description

As part of the team in the Office of the Dean of Students at University College, the Programming Assistant – Equity & Diversity will work collaboratively with Residence Dons, Community Coordinators and other staff to support the development and facilitation of programs, events and educational discussions around equity and diversity issues. This is an excellent opportunity to build on current knowledge of equity and diversity and support the self-reflection and development of students within University College’s diverse residence and commuter communities. The Programming Assistant – Equity & Diversity will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the planning and facilitation of small group discussions and educational programs on issues of equity & diversity for students with diverse identities and experiences
  • Collaborate with Residence Dons and student leaders to develop residence-based educational programming
  • Support the delivery of programs and initiatives to support inclusion and community-building
  • Develop informational displays and social media content to support education, awareness and community building

The Programing Assistant will also provide support to the Assistant to the Dean, Residence Life and Residence Life Coordinator in the planning and delivery of other initiatives over the course of the year and assist with administrative tasks within the Office of the Dean of Students, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in program delivery and/or small group facilitation
  • Knowledge and personal engagement with the principals of equity & diversity
  • Knowledge and personal engagement with at least one of the following areas: anti-racism, cultural diversity, religious plurality, sexual and gender diversity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of residence life, an asset

This position does require regular evening shifts and periodic weekend shifts. Program Assistant, Student Leadership Conference (Job ID # 102705)

Job Description

As part of the team in the Office of the Dean of Students at University College, the Programming Assistant will work collaboratively other staff to support the development, delivery and assessment of a student leadership conference at University College.  The Programming Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Updating online communications (website, etc)
  • Assisting with the coordination of logistics for the event (room bookings, AV, etc)
  • Assisting with the development of the schedule and curriculum for the event
  • Assisting with the development of promotional materials
  • Providing support at the event
  • Assisting with post-event assessment

The Program Assistant will also provide support to the Assistant to the Dean, Student Life and Student Life Coordinator in the planning and delivery of other student life initiatives over the course of the year and assist with administrative tasks within the Office of the Dean of Students as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Previous event planning experience an asset
  • Knowledge of the University College Residences and/or Commuter Student Centre an asset

Student Life Assistant (Job ID # 102702)

Job Description

As part of the team in the Office of the Dean of Students at University College, the Student Life Assistant will work collaboratively with the Community Coordinators, Residence Dons, and other staff to support the College's residence and student life programming.  The Student Life Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Updating online communications (website, blog, etc.)
  • Ensuring a consistent presence on various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Assisting in the planning, delivery, and assessment of various workshops and programs
  • Coordinating tours of the residences and the College
  • Acting as an ambassador for the College at various events

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with various social media platforms
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the University College Residences and/or Commuter Student Centre an asset
