How Rules Succeed and Fail: An Intellectual History of the Particular

 

Join us for an exciting three-part public lectures series presented by Professor Lorraine Daston, Director emerita, Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin; Visiting Professor of Social Thought and History, University of Chicago. 


Event Details:

Tuesday, November 2 - Miserable Failure: The War Against Fashion
Wednesday, November 3 - Rules for an Unruly City: Policing the Streets of Enlightenment Paris
Thursday, November 4 - Rules That Succeed Too Well: Spelling and Nationhood

All three lectures will take place from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm EDT. Please note that these events are virtual; Zoom details will be provided by the event organizer leading up to the first lecture.
