Scholarships & Awards

To provide an annual award to an undergraduate student registered at University College or whose submission is linked to work in a UC program or affiliated Centre.

For students enrolled in the Sexual Diversity Studies program. Awarded to a student with financial need. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to students’ college membership.  Recipients must satisfy the eligibility requirements of the OSOTF II / OTSS program. 

Gift of Bob Rae (UC '69) and Arlene Perly Rae (UC '71) in honour of Mr. Rae's parents. To be awarded to University College students, financial need will be the primary criterion in selecting the recipients. Awarded on the basis of financial need to students enrolled in Health Studies or Sexual Diversity Studies Programs. Preference will be given to a 4th year student who has demonstrated academic excellence in gender or addiction issues related to social determinants of health. 

To be considered for this award, a student must be registered in SDS program and it must be awarded in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. The SDS Awards Committee makes its selection from among applicants on the basis of financial need and merit. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to students’ college membership.

To be awarded in recognition of student work in Asian Canadian Studies. The selection will be based on the recommendation of the Director of the Canadian Studies Program, who will consider financial need, academic performance and extracurricular activities. Recipients must satisfy the eligibility requirements of the OSOTF II program. Students from all colleges are eligible. 

Awards will be made on the basis of financial need demonstrated through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or on the basis of information provided by an individual on the award application. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students from all U of T campuses, faculties, colleges and programs will be eligible, with no preference given to those enrolled in the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies programs or courses. The awards will be administered by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College in accordance with the University’s Policy on Student Awards and decisions about allocation will be made by its Student Awards Committee.  Although the primary consideration will be financial need, the Committee will also consider other factors such as outstanding volunteer contributions on or off campus aimed at increasing acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, as well as academic achievement. Awards are variable in number and value. 

To assist UC students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to live in residence. The award must be made in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. Awards will vary in number and value. The Wanda O’Hagan Scholarship is awarded to a Canadian Studies undergraduate student who has demonstrated a commitment to women’s equality and is in financial need. The prize is awarded based on both academic and extracurricular activity. To be eligible, the student must be enrolled in at least one University College course sponsored by the Canadian Studies Program in the year for which the award is given.
