Scholarships & Awards

To assist with the relief of student loan debt for students who have graduated from the Transitional Year Program upon their subsequent graduation from the Faculty of Arts and Science. Preference will be given to those who are graduating from University College but other TYP alumni will be eligible if funds are sufficient. The intention is to provide relief equivalent to one year of a student’s OSAP debt.

To assist UC students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to live in residence. The award must be made in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. Awards will vary in number and value. Established by the generosity of the alumni and friends of University College through the Annual Fund (1996-97). These awards are intended to assist deserving University College students with the costs of university education. Gift from the grandchildren of William and Sheila Cowan (UC’41). To be awarded to second, third and fourth year students enrolled in the Humanities, with preference given to those majoring or specializing in History, and further preference to students who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, especially combat veterans or students who are their spouses, children or siblings. In accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS), the primary criterion will be financial need.  Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.

Gifted from the estate of Christine Holmes Crockett in memory of her late husband, William Mabon Crockett (UC’42). To be awarded to University College students in financial need who are enrolled in programs in the Department of English and have demonstrated financial need. Awards will vary in number and value. 

Gift of the late Mrs. Kathleen Mabel Mowbray, in honour of her husband, William Mowbray, of the value of the annual income from the fund. Preference is given to a student currently taking English as one of their courses. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.
