Scholarships & Awards

Gift of Mrs. James Harris, each of the value of $800 cash, with a total possible value of $2,800, for general proficiency, including the following subjects: Latin and Greek; Latin and French; French and German; two modern languages; Mathematics and Physics. (In awarding one of these scholarships, preference will be given to a student from Ridley College.) The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

To support merit-based scholarships for first-year students coming from the United States. 

Bequest of the late Louis Rosenfeld. The award has a value of approximately $400 with a total possible value of approximately $2,400 over 4 years; awarded for general proficiency. The scholarship includes tuition allowance of $500 per year, which is renewable with an annual GPA of at least 3.50 on a course load of four full course equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Bequest of the late Esther Geraldine Millard, who attended University College from 1906-08, in memory of her parents Alexander and T. Elizabeth Millard, and her brother, John Howard Millard. The two awards are based on the annual income from the fund and are not necessarily divided equally. These awards recognize excellence in any subjects or general proficiency and are for candidates from schools outside the Greater Toronto Area who are entering the Sir Daniel Wilson Residence or Whitney Hall.

Gift of S.R. Wickett. This award recognizes excellence in English and history.

To be awarded to newly admitted students registered at University College on the basis of academic merit.

Gift of graduates of University College and other friends of the late Professor Malcolm Wallace, former principal of University College and head of the Department of English. The award has a value of approximately $2,000 cash with a total possible value of $4,000, for excellence in any subject or for general proficiency. Awarded to a student intending to specialize in English. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full course equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Bequest of the late Florence Louisa Cody; awarded for general proficiency.

Gift of the late Sir John Gibson (UC 1863). The value is approximately $400 plus the tuition allowance for a total possible value of approximately $2,400 over four years; awarded for general proficiency. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Gift of the late J.S. McLean. The awards have a value of $1000 each; the number is determined by the balance of the income from the fund; awarded for general proficiency.
