Scholarships & Awards

Awarded to a University College student for the purpose of graduate studies within or outside Canada. 

Admission: Bequest of the late William Alexander Beverly (UC 1949) in memory of his parents, of the value of $1,500; awarded for general proficiency.

In Course: Two scholarships for general proficiency in each of first, second and third years.

To provide funding for 3rd and 4th year University College students enrolled in either Specialist or Major programs in the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.  

Bequest of the late Angus MacMurchy in memory of his father, for general proficiency. Preference will be given to students entering the Sir Daniel Wilson Residence or Whitney Hall.

To be awarded to one or two domestic undergraduate students enrolled in a Cognitive Science major to travel outside Canada to gain further experience in Cognitive Science. Eligible students must demonstrate both financial need and the academic merit of their travel's purpose. Preference will be given to University College students. Preference will be given to students who are Black or Indigenous.

These awards are intended to assist students who have been involved with the Art Museum at the University of Toronto. Students must demonstrate financial need in order to be eligible. Graduate and undergraduate students are eligible with preference to students who have some affiliation with University College. The University College Registrar will consult with the Director of the Art Museum before selecting recipients.

Gift of the late Arthur Cohen (UC 1903). The value is approximately $500 plus the tuition allowance for a total possible value of approximately $2,500 over four years; awarded for general proficiency, including English and French. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Gift of the late Mr. Arthur Cohen and Mrs. Cohen; awarded to a student who has specialized in English. 

Established by Marguerite Ruth Dow (UC'49) in memory of her mother Beatrice Bott Dow (1890-1974). To be awarded to a University College student enrolled in English Literature who has demonstrated financial need. Academic standing will also be considered.

A bequest of Mrs. Beryl Lowry, an alumna of University College who studied English Literature in her later years; this prize is to be awarded to a student in any year who has done well in courses in English literature.
