Financial Need Awards
The Allan Coatsworth Memorial Scholarship was created by Klaus Goldschlag (UC 1944) in honour of Allan Coatsworth, whose ecumenical benevolence assisted young Jewish Torontonians before and during the Second World War. It is awarded annually to students in University College who have achieved high standing in one or more of the following areas of study: history, philosophy and languages. The primary criterion for the award is financial need. Awards have a value of $500 and are variable in number. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.

Provided under the will of the late Mrs. Bessie Griffith Cosens, a graduate of University College in the year 1924, and supplemented by her husband, Mr. Gordon Cosens.  To be awarded to a woman student of University College in any course, and in any year, who is most deserving of financial assistance.

Edward Moss Davidson Awards are a gift of the family and friends of the late Edward Moss Davidson (UC 1934), former Director of Admissions of the University of Toronto. The amount of each award depends on financial need. Established by Eunice Croll Mouckley to support students in the study of Humanities at University College. To be awarded to full-time, undergraduate student(s) at University College studying Humanities on the basis of financial need. Awards will be limited to no more than two per year.

The Gordon H. Southam Scholarships were established originally by the Southam family in memory of Gordon Hamilton Southam (UC 1907), killed in action in 1916. Intended to assist University College students with the costs of university education. The primary criterion for selecting recipients will be financial need. Also considered will be academic standing, and participation in extracurricular activities in the University.
