UC Writing Centre Instructor Vikki Visvis Wins ASSU’s Excellence in Teaching Award

Congratulations to Vikki Visvis, who has been chosen as the 2012-13 recipient of ASSU’s Ranjini (Rini) Ghosh Excellence in Teaching Award. Vikki has taught in the University College Writing Centre since 2004. She also works at the New College and Innis Writing Centres. She has taught courses in the English Department since 2004, and in the Writing and Rhetoric Program since 2009. She was recently appointed as a member of University College in the category of Other Academic Appointee.

Canadian Studies Student Jessica Ng Wins U of T Student Engagement in the Arts Award

Congratulations to  Jessica Ng, who was recently honoured with a University of Toronto Student Engagement in the Arts Award. Jessica, who is pursuing a specialist in Canadian Studies and a minor in Sexual Diversity Studies, is the Assistant Artistic Director of the Hart House Players. She also reviews and selects student productions for honours as an Awards Representative for the U of T Drama Coalition. She has written award-winning plays that have been performed at the U of T Drama Festival and is passionate about developing challenging, socially-significant theatre.

Prof. Siobhan O'Flynn featured in Playback Magazine

In a feature interview with Playback, Canada's leading entertainment industry magazine, Professor Siobhan O'Flynn  discusses two recent award-winning Canadian transmedia productions and filmmaker John Greyson's urban/TTC transmedia/multi-screen project (still running on TTC screens), Murder in Passing.  The piece is titled "Grand Narratives: Digital design and story-telling consultant Siobhan O'Flynn discusses three complelling transmedia executions", and is featured in an issue that focuses on the state of the entertianment industry(s). 

Brenda Cossman Wins Ludwik and Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize

Congratulations to Brenda Cossman, Director of the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College and a Professor in the Faculty of Law,  for winning the Ludwik and Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize. UC Faculty Member Meric Gertler to Become Next U of T President

Congratulations to Professor Meric Gertler on his appointment as the next President of the University of Toronto. Gertler is currently Goldring Chair of Canadian Studies at University College and the Department of Geography, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science.  He succeeds UC alumnus Professor David Naylor.
