Congratulations to the UC writing award winners for 2013! This year's awards include the biennial Norma Epstein National Awards in Creative Writing, which are open to students from across Canada. There were 10 winning entries in all. Cara Evans, a UC Health Studies student who graduated this spring, won a total of four awards, three of them first prizes.
Congratulations to UC student Jessica Ng, who was appointed to the Governing Council of the University of Toronto. Jessica will serve as a full-time undergraduate student on the Academic Board and on the Committee on Academic Policy and Programs (within the Academic Board).
While it’s not unusual for multiple generations of family members to attend a graduand’s convocation, it’s not too often that they all end up on the dais. Such was the case at the University College convocation this Monday, when three generations of the Paul family participated in the august ceremonies.
UC and UC-program students will have a special opportunity in 2013-14 to develop their skills as writers of fiction and creative non-fiction. UC's Barker Fairley Distinguished Visitor for 2013-14, award-winning writer of fiction and non-fiction Shyam Selvadurai, will be available to meet with UC and UC program students in free fifty-minute one-on-one sessions at the UC Writing Centre.
