Summer Residence


Located in the heart of the University of Toronto's St George Campus, the residences at University College offer all-gender dormitory-style living in both historic and modern halls.

  • Dormitory-style living means residents have their own Single Room. or share a Double Room with another resident, while sharing other common areas and facilities with all residents in the building.
  • Residents at University College live in an all-gender environment, wherein residents of all genders live in the same buildings and on the same floors, while using the same shared all-gender washrooms. This approach is consistent with University College's long history as a welcoming community built on traditions of openness, inclusivity, and diversity.

Shared Areas and Facilities

  • All-Gender washrooms (aka co-ed, gender-neutral, gender-inclusive) - residents of all genders use the same washroom facilities, which have private and locking shower stalls and toilet stalls.
    • We DO NOT have accommodations with private/ensuite washrooms.
  • Common rooms/lounges and TV rooms
  • Kitchens and/or kitchenettes
  • Games room and music rooms
  • Dedicated study rooms
  • Coin-operated laundry rooms

To stay in the UC Residences during the summer months (May - August), applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age upon application.
  2. Applicants must be at least one (1) of the following:
    • Current student with an active registration status at the University of Toronto.
    • Current student with an active registration status at another post-secondary institution (i.e. college or university).
    • Recently graduated student (previous active session within the last 12 months) from any post-secondary institution.
    • Current staff and faculty at any post-secondary institution.

You are required to provide proof of your eligibility upon check-in (see Arrival and Check-In). Applications who do not meet the eligibility requirements will not be accepted.

Don’t feel like doing groceries, cooking food, and/or cleaning dishes? UC Food Services offers a diverse variety of healthy and sustainable food and beverage options. Both locations are located at 75 St George St, Morrison Hall.

Prepare your own meals

  • Whitney Hall - residents at Whitney Hall can use the two (2) full kitchens on the first floor to prepare their own meals. Each kitchen has two stoves/oven, a shared fridge, and countertops. Residents must bring their own kitchen cookware and utensils to prepare their meals.
  • Morrison Hall - residents at Morrison Hall have access to a kitchenette in the common room. Each kitchenette has a shared fridge and microwave. There are NO FULL KITCHENS with stoves/ovens in Morrison Hall.

Purchase meals elsewhere on campus

The St. George campus of the University of Toronto has over 30 locations where you can purchase everything from a full meal to a quick snack and coffee. See the list online for information on each individual location including opening hours, address and services. The closest full service Dining Hall to the UC Residences that is open during the summer months is the New College Dining Hall at 40 Willcocks St.

Parking No parking is available at the residences. Visit the U of T Parking Services website for locations, permits, and rates.

Online Application

See below for instructions on  how to submit an online application for summer residence at the University College Residences.

Please note of the following:

  • Applications must be submitted at least by 1:00 PM one business day before your Expected Arrival Date in order to be considered.
  • All applications require a $200.00 reservation and damage deposit payable using a credit card through our secure online payment system. The application portal will accept credit card payments in the form of VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, and Diners Club International.
  • Applications will only be accepted from persons who meet the eligibility requirements above (at least 18 years of age and either a current student, staff, or faculty). See Eligibility.
  • Applications do not guarantee accommodation. They will be considered based on space availability and the applicant's eligibility.
  • Specific rooms are not assigned in advance and incoming residents cannot request specific rooms.
  • Persons requesting a Double Room in Whitney Hall must provide the name of the person with whom they will be sharing the room. Both persons must submit a separate application  and indicate each other's name as their preferred roommate in order to reserve a Double Room.
  • Reservations will be confirmed by email. Email addresses must be provided on your application.
  • Our summer session ends at 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, August 21, 2017. We will not confirm reservations for departures after this date.

Reservation, Key, and Damage Deposit

All applicants (UofT and non-UofT) must pay a $200.00 Reservation, Key, and Damage deposit upon submitting their application.

  • U of T students - this deposit will be applied as a credit towards your Occupancy Fees.
  • Non-UofT guests - this deposit will NOT be applied towards your Occupancy Fees. However, it will be refunded back to you 3-5 business days after your check-out, assuming you return all issued keys and have no outstanding balance due to damages, extra cleaning, etc.

Application instructions for U of T students

  1. Visit the Student Housing Application Portal at and login using your student number and PIN/Password. If you don't know your PIN/Password, use the Obtain/Forgot Password button to have it emailed to you.
  2. Once logged in, click on the Applications tab.
  3. Under the Term Selector, select UC - Summer 2017 to begin your application.
  4. Complete the necessary steps in the application.
  5. Read and agree to the terms and conditions stated in the Summer Residence Occupancy Agreement.
  6. Pay the required $200.00 reservation and damage deposit.
  7. Complete the remaining steps and submit your application.

Application instructions for non-U of T students

  1. Visit the Student Housing Application Portal at
  2. Select "Create Record" to register as an applicant and login.
  3. Once logged in, follow the same instructions for U of T students above from Step 2 onwards.

Map and Directions

Take the TTC subway to St George station. Leave the station via the St George St exit (not the Bedford Rd exit). Walk south on St. George Street towards Harbord/Hoskin Street. The UC Residences are just south of Harbord/Hoskin Street, on the east side of St. George Street.
