Croft Chapter House

Now used for meetings and receptions, this room was Canada's first chemistry lab. A large, circular boardroom with fireplace, high ceilings and natural lighting.
Furnishings: Large oval meeting table, 3 smaller rectangular tables, chairs.
Capacity: 55 for meetings (35 around the table), 125 for receptions.
Wireless internet available.

UC240 (a.k.a. Old Senate Chamber)

This room was once the meeting place of the governing body at the University of Toronto. An Informal meeting room and/or lounge suitable for receptions and small meetings. The room features a kitchenette and a fireplace.

Capacity: 15 for meetings, 40 for receptions.

A lounge ideal for informal meetings and intimate receptions, featuring high ceilings and exposed brick walls. *Can only be booked after 5:00 p.m. weekdays.

Howard Ferguson Dining Hall

The meal service facility for UC residence students, featuring high ceilings and large windows. Conveniently located on St. George St., the hall is ideal for receptions and banquets. *Can only be booked mid-May-August, no exceptions. The adjoining kitchen and servery are not available for rent.

Dining tables and chairs.
Capacity: 300 for meals, 500 for receptions.

Policies 

GENERAL INFORMATION

University College’s hours of operation are:

  • Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Closed Saturday and Sunday

To inquire about booking UC classrooms (including the East and West Halls, UC 266 and 273, respectively), please contact the Academic and Campus Events (ACE) team at ace.team@utoronto.ca or (416) 978-2187.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The below terms and conditions apply to all clients (UC, internal/U of T, external) for all UC meeting and lounge spaces.

  • Rooms are to be used for expressed purposes within the reserved time frame, which must include set-up and tear-down time. Furniture must be returned to its original configuration, waste must be disposed of and signage must be removed. Exception: the boardroom table in Croft Chapter House cannot be moved without express permission from University College.
  • University College reserves the right to charge a $100 cleaning fee if rooms are left in an untidy uncondition. 
  • University College is a heritage building. Please do not affix signs to the wood wainscoting. When affixing signs to the brick, and especially to the painted plaster, please use masking tape only.
  • University College does NOT provide any equipment for events (i.e. tables, chairs, A/V equipment, extension cords, tents, canopies, etc). 
  • University College meeting and lounge spaces are intended for U of T and UC functions including conferences, meetings and receptions for College programs, University departments, faculties, student groups, etc. The College does not permit the use of space for private functions such as birthday parties, wedding ceremonies or receptions, memorials, etc.
  • For evening and weekend events which run beyond regular hours of operation, additional charges for the mandatory services of building patrol and caretaking will be incurred by the client. Current rates:

Building Patrol

$25 per hour, per guard; four hour minimum ($37.50 on Sundays and Holidays)

Caretaking

$188 flat fee ($236 on Sundays & Holidays)

 

POLICIES BY CLIENT TYPE

UC Departments/Faculty & Student Groups

UC clients using rooms for UC purposes (e.g., College program or committee meetings) are not charged a rental fee. UC clients using rooms for non-UC purposes (departmental or research meetings) are charged the discounted, internal rate (see UC Space Rental Rates document).

 

U of T Departments/Faculty & Student Groups

U of T clients are charged a discounted rate. Clients must provide cost assignment information (CC, CFC, fund number) for confirmation of reservation.  Fees will be charged after the event via internal debit memo (or by cheque made payable to University of Toronto for student groups).

 

External Clients

External clients are charged the regular rental rate as listed on the website, plus 13% HST. Payment is due in the form of a cheque made payable to University of Toronto. Cheques can be mailed to or dropped off at: University College - Room 173, 15 King's College Circle, Toronto, ON  M5S 3H7.
