U of T saddened by 'horrific' van attack: President Meric Gertler

The University of Toronto is offering its condolences to the victims of the devastating van attack near Yonge Street and Finch Avenue that’s being dubbed the country’s worst mass killing in nearly 30 years.
U of T President Meric Gertler tweeted Monday evening he was saddened by the “horrific” attack that occurred just hours earlier when a rental van jumped a curb and drove into pedestrians on a busy stretch of Yonge Street, leaving a trail of carnage in its wake and an entire city in shock.

Students may enter one of three writing competitions

If you are enrolled at UC or are pursue a specialist or major in one of UC’s programs, you may enter your creative work or essays in one of UC’s annual writing competitions: the Norma Epstein Foundation Awards in Creative Writing, Meyer (Mike) Greenstein Memorial Student Award for Writing Excellence, Frederic Davidson Competition. Past award winners include David Adams Richards, David Cronenberg, Janice Kulyk Keefer, Anne Michaels, Michael Ondaatje, James Reaney, and Miriam Waddington. The deadline for applying is May 1.
