Advising & Registrarial Services

The Academic Advising & Registrar's Office (AARO) at University College is your reliable first stop for any information or advice you may need as a UC student during your studies at the University of Toronto. We provide academic, financial, and general advising to all UC students.

Our academic advisors are committed to helping students make choices that will lead to their academic success. An academic advisor can assist you with:

  • Reviewing academic progress and standing;
  • Addressing issues that affect your academic performance;
  • Establishing goals and planning for the future;
  • Exploring program options; 
  • Selecting appropriate classes and electives;
  • Understanding academic rules and regulations; and
  • Providing information on additional support services.

Advisors in the Academic Advising & Registrar's Office meet one-on-one with students for scheduled advising appointments in person, via Microsoft Teams, or via phone. To book an appointment with an advisor, please visit or phone our office during business hours and speak with a Front Line Advisor. Drop-in express advising services are also available (see below).

  • Front Line Advising

    Front line advisors are available to assist you with many of your academic questions. Typically, your questions can be answered at the front desk without having to initiate an academic advising appointment. You can also speak with a front line advisor by calling the Academic Advising & Registrar's Office at 416-978-3170. 

    In the event that your circumstance cannot be resolved by a front line advisor, we will book you an appointment or offer you an opportunity to join a drop-in advising session. 

  • Drop-In Advising

    Are you in need of academic advising?

    Virtual drop-ins are an opportunity for students to consult with an academic advisor one-on-one. Please note that drop-in sessions are considered “express” appointments aimed at helping with straightforward inquiries and requests.

    Academic advisors in our office will be available to meet with students for a one-on-one confidential virtual drop-in advising during the following weekly times:

    Wednesdays: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM (EST)
    Thursdays: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (EST)

    Drop-in sessions are designed to be shorter in nature and will work on a first come first served basis. You can register at any time using the UC Virtual Drop-In Advising Registration Form. The Zoom link and passcode to join the queue, further instructions, and latest drop-in advising schedule are in the closing message after you submit the form.

    Extended Virtual Drop-In Advising

    Extended drop-in sessions will be offered during peak periods (start of term, drop deadlines, end of term, etc.). Please see the schedule below for the extended drop-ins for the 2025 Summer Session:

    Are you facing personal challenges and unsure where to turn for support?

    Connect with Adanna Anucha (Assistant Dean, Community Wellness) during the virtual drop-in advising! As the Assistant Dean of Community Wellness, Adanna is here to offer students guidance and direction. This might include:

    • Having a conversation about your well-being and wellness-related needs

    • Helping you to access helpful resources

    • Or connecting you to campus and community services

    Adanna provides a welcoming space for students to explore their needs, find solutions, and feel supported in their academic journey here at UC. Students can connect with Adanna one-on-one at the virtual drop-in advising during the following weekly times:

    Wednesdays from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM 
    Thursdays from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Scheduled Appointments

    Scheduled appointments in the Academic Advising & Registrar's Office can be made by calling the office at 416-978-3170 or visiting the office in person. These appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, and are offered in person, via MS Teams, or via phone. 

  • Prepare for Your Advising Meeting

    To help prepare for your scheduled or drop-in advising meeting:

    • If you are a newly admitted student, check out our informational modules and videos on UC 101: Your New Student Guide;

    • Review your degree and program requirements on Degree Explorer;

    • If you are will be discussing future programs and courses with an Academic Advisor, use the Planner tab on Degree Explorer to map out a hypothetical plan for the year ahead; and

    • Prepare a short list of questions or topics that you hope to cover.
