The College hosted four writing competitions open to UC and UC program students as part of the annual UC Writing Awards: the Meyer (Mike) Greenstein Memorial Student Award for Writing Excellence, the Norma Epstein Foundation Awards in Creative Writing, the Frederic Davidson Competition, and the Lorne Tepperman Prize in Public Writing.
UC is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025-26 UC Student Leadership Awards. Recognized among friends and family at a combined ceremony held at the end of each academic year, the Student Leadership Awards celebrate the accomplishments of UC students who have made their mark by enriching the university experience at the college and beyond.
If you have ever interacted with the Public Health Program, chances are, you’ve come across the work of recent UC graduate Brandon Chan-Long, a student who double-majored in Public Health and Critical Studies in Equity and Solidarity. In conversation before his graduation, Brandon shared some details and highlights from his own academic journey, including the formative moments that will — in his own words — ‘stay with him forever.’

Welcome to a new semester! My name is Colleen Dockstader and I’m delighted to return as Director of the Undergraduate Program in Public Health/Health Studies after a year away on sabbatical, and I’m excited to reconnect with both new and returning students.
Recent Arts & Science and UC program graduates — Rhea Raghunauth (Public Health) and Omer Malikyar (Canadian Studies) — are among seven recipients of the prestigious Pathy Foundation Fellowship, which provides new Canadian university grads with $50,000 in support to create meaningful change in their communities.

For many students, an academic suspension can feel like the end of the road. But a new pilot program by University College and Victoria College at Victoria University in the University of Toronto is showing it can instead be a turning point.
The Skills Towards Academic Recovery (STAR) program launched in summer 2025 at University College and Victoria College designed specifically for suspended students.
After graduating from U of T, alumni enjoy many benefits: mentorship, career opportunities, and lifelong friendship. For Fraser Allan Best that friendship became invaluable — he received a life-saving donation from his fellow alum and friend Robbie Grant (BA 2015 UC).
