Barker Fairley Distinguished Visitors Honoured at the 2023 Oscars

Barker Fairley Distinguished Visitor Sarah Polley was awarded the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony on March 12 for her adaptation of Miriam Toews' novel Women Talking. Toews served as the Barker Fairley Visitor in 2015-16; Polley served in 2012-13. UC and UC program students had the good fortune to meet with both Toews and Polley at the UC Writing Centre to work on their writing or to discuss the life of the writer/filmmaker and the creative process.
