UC Recognizes Inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Announcements

In accordance with our college's founding values of diversity, equity and inclusion, University College (UC) will be recognizing the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday, September 30. Recognizing that everyone is at different intersections on the road to reconciliation, we encourage the UC community to take this day for personal reflection and to contemplate how each of us can respond in deliberate and meaningful ways to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action. The ongoing discoveries of unmarked graves at residential school sites have provided a sobering reminder of the atrocities that took place within this destructive system, highlighting the need for reconciliation efforts that will allow us to address systemic injustices and move forward together. As a college, UC commits to listening and elevating Indigenous voices through our policies, extracurricular activities and academic offerings. You can learn more about the TRC online, and for those who need emotional help or crisis support, we encourage calling the residential school survivor support line at 1-866-925-4419.
