Alen Milne McCombie Award Fund

For UC students on the basis of academic merit or financial need.

Allan Coatsworth Memorial Scholarship

Created by Klaus Goldschlag (UC 1944), in honour of Allan Coatsworth, whose ecumenical benevolence assisted young Jewish Torontonians before and during the Second World War. To be awarded annually to students in University College who have achieved high standing in one or more of the following areas of study: history, philosophy and languages. Awards have a value of $500 and are variable in number.

Allen-Mckellar Memorial Prize

The prize will alternate between Old French of the third year and French phonetics of the first year and will be awarded to a student ranking first in first-class honours in the subjects of Old French and French Phonetics respectively. If no candidate qualifies, the prize may be awarded elsewhere at the discretion of college council.

Ann Shepard Memorial Scholarship For Botany/Zoology

Bequest of the late Mrs. Helen Shepard in memory of her daughter Ann, a student of Parkdale Collegiate who died in 1928 before entering University; the first scholarship with a value of $400, the second of $300, and the remaining four of $250 each. In making the first two awards, preference will be given to students intending to enter a second-year program in biological sciences.

To provide funding for 3rd and 4th year University College students enrolled in either Specialist or Major programs in the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.

Beryl Lowry Prize in English Literature

A bequest of Mrs. Beryl Lowry, an alumna of University College who studied English Literature in her later years; this prize is to be awarded to a student in any year who has done well in courses in English literature.

C.A. Chant Scholarship for Astronomy

In honour of the late Professor C.A. Chant, former professor of astrophysics, this award is the gift of the late William McLeod (UC 1895) and is to be awarded to the student who obtains the highest Grade A standing in an appropriate astronomy course.

C.L. Burton Open Scholarships

The gift of the late C.L. Burton, CBE.  Preference will be given to students who have completed third year in the humanities, but awards may be made in other years and fields at the discretion of the college council.
