Scholarships & Awards

To be awarded to University College students on the basis of financial need.

Established by Eunice Croll Mouckley to support students in the study of Humanities at University College. To be awarded to full-time, undergraduate student(s) at University College studying Humanities on the basis of financial need. Awards will be limited to no more than two per year.  

Bequest of the late Evelyn McDonald (UC 1910), preferably, but not necessarily, to provide scholarships in English based on academic merit.

Gift of the late Mrs. N.A. McLarty, in memory of the late Norman Alexander McLarty (UC 1910). Awarded at the end of first year to a student going into a political science and/or economics program, or to a student already enrolled in a second- or third-year program of political science and/or economics. 

To be awarded to students registered at University College on the basis of financial need, with a preference for Indigenous students. Eligible candidates are identified through the University's UTAPS program. 

The Frank W. Woods Bursary will be awarded to University College students with a financial need. 

Established in 1948 in memory of Professor Frederic Davidson (UC ’90), the Frederic Davidson Competition offers one prize of $2,000, one of $1,000, and one of $500 annually to any undergraduate student registered at UC, or whose submission is linked to work in a UC program or affiliated Centre, for any type of academic essay. Preference will be given to essays on English or French literature.

Of the value of the annual income; intended to help with the purchase of books. 

Founded by subscription in memory of Miss Gertrude Lawler. To be awarded in first year for English.

Established by Marguerite Ruth Dow (UC’49) in memory of her father Gordon Russell Dow (1887-1974). To be awarded to a University College student enrolled in Astronomy who has demonstrated financial need. Academic standing will also be considered.
