Scholarships & Awards

The gift of Mrs. J. Home Cameron in memory of her late husband, Professor Cameron. To be awarded for excellence in French. 

Gift of the late Arthur Cohen (UC 1903).  The value is approximately $500 plus the tuition allowance for a total possible value of approximately $2,500 over four years; awarded for general proficiency, including English and French. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Preference will be given to a student intending to specialize in Classics.

Awards will be made on the basis of financial need demonstrated through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or on the basis of information provided by an individual on the award application. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students from all U of T campuses, faculties, colleges and programs will be eligible, with no preference given to those enrolled in the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies programs or courses. The awards will be administered by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College in accordance with the University’s Policy on Student Awards and decisions about allocation will be made by its Student Awards Committee.  Although the primary consideration will be financial need, the Committee will also consider other factors such as outstanding volunteer contributions on or off campus aimed at increasing acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, as well as academic achievement. Awards are variable in number and value. 

Gift of the late Rt. Hon. Sir William Mulock, P.C., for many years Vice-Chancellor, and later Chancellor of the University. For a student in Classics.

Established by the bequest of Mary Elizabeth Wallace (UC 1931), daughter of Malcolm Wallace. To be awarded at admission for excellence in any subject.The award has a value of approximately $2,000 cash with a total possible value of $4,000, for excellence in any subject. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full course equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Bequest of the late Thomas A. Russell. This award recognizes excellence in any subjects or general proficiency. Preference will be given to students entering the Sir Daniel Wilson Residence or Whitney Hall.

Founded by subscription in honour of Professor Frederick Tracy; scholarship of the value of the annual income from the fund, awarded to the student who obtains the highest percentage in Grade A standing in an ethics course. 

Supported by donations from University College Alumni and awarded on the basis of academic merit or financial need. Eligible students are automatically considered.

Established by the generosity of the alumni and friends of University College through the Annual Fund (1996-97). These awards are intended to assist deserving University College students with the costs of university education.
