May 23, 2024 ANNOUNCEMENT: re future changes to Health Studies Program (2025-26)
Dear Health Studies Program students.
Beginning for the academic year 2025-26, a new Public Health curriculum will commence for new students. This new curriculum will ONLY apply to NEW students who apply to the 2025-26 program (and beyond). Anyone currently enrolled in the Health Studies program (major or specialist) or enrolling for the 2024-25 year will NOT be affected by these changes. This means the requirements for your Health Studies Major or Specialist have not, and will not, change - ever.
This coming academic year - Health Studies has some new courses, that are completely optional. In September, we will also start to include the name "Public Health" on our Health Studies website so that first year students will be aware of the new program title/curriculum in time for beginning of program applications in March 2025.
Any questions can be directed to health.studies@utoronto.ca.
Have a lovely summer and take good care.
Colleen Dockstader, Director of the Health Studies program
Explore How Health Is Shaped
Build the skills you need to help solve health challenges – both locally and globally. Our students examine how understandings of health are shaped by culture, bringing together insights from the humanities, sciences and social sciences. In a stimulating yet academically rigorous environment, you will investigate competing claims about health and disease, engaging with systems put in place to deal with illness.
The Major in Health Studies is specifically tailored to provide a rigorous academic core curriculum while maintaining a program to accommodate your interests,
The core courses provide an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary Health Studies. You can build on these courses to design a program that reflects your interests.
