Scholarships & Awards

Bequest of the late Miss Catherine S. Michell and Colonel William C. Michell, formerly principal of Riverdale Collegiate Institute. Awards are based on financial need. Academic merit may also be considered. Awards are variable in number and value depending on students’ financial need. Any balance of income may be used for in-course awards of variable value. Bequest of the late Esther Geraldine Millard, who attended University College from 1906-08, in memory of her parents Alexander and T. Elizabeth Millard, and her brother, John Howard Millard. The two awards are based on the annual income from the fund and are not necessarily divided equally. These awards recognize excellence in any subjects or general proficiency and are for candidates from schools outside the Greater Toronto Area who are entering the Sir Daniel Wilson Residence or Whitney Hall.

Each of the value of approximately $500, to be awarded to students studying history.These prizes are given in honour of Eleanor and Moffatt Woodside (formerly principal of University College, 1959-63) by their sons Alexander, John and Michael and by many friends. (Two in each of second and third years)

Gift of S.R. Wickett. This award recognizes excellence in English and history.

Established in memory of her husband Moses Tartick by Anne Tartick. An annual award to a University College student for excellent performance in the humanities.

Founded by subscription in honour of the late Chief Justice Thomas Moss; awarded to a student in Classics.

These scholarships are a gift from the late Neil D. Graham (UC '30). These scholarships give preference to the students with the highest grade point average in first, second and third year who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in a science program. Awarded to a UC student pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Arts, based on academic merit, with a preference for a student in an English program.

For students enrolled in the Sexual Diversity Studies program. Awarded to a student with financial need. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to students’ college membership.  Recipients must satisfy the eligibility requirements of the OSOTF II / OTSS program. 

Gift of various donors in appreciation of Professor Paul Perron’s term as Principal of University College (1997 – 2005). To be awarded to UC students who are enrolled in a minimum course load of 3.0 with a GPA of at least 3.0. The award must be made in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.
