Scholarships & Awards

To be awarded to a University College student proceeding to Second, Third or Fourth Year of any undergraduate program on the basis of academic merit.

Bequest of the late Miss Catherine S. Michell and Colonel William C. Michell, formerly principal of Riverdale Collegiate Institute. Awards are based on financial need. Academic merit may also be considered. Awards are variable in number and value depending on students’ financial need. Any balance of income may be used for in-course awards of variable value. Each of the value of approximately $500, to be awarded to students studying history.These prizes are given in honour of Eleanor and Moffatt Woodside (formerly principal of University College, 1959-63) by their sons Alexander, John and Michael and by many friends. (Two in each of second and third years)

Established in memory of her husband Moses Tartick by Anne Tartick. An annual award to a University College student for excellent performance in the humanities.

Founded by subscription in honour of the late Chief Justice Thomas Moss; awarded to a student in Classics.

These scholarships are a gift from the late Neil D. Graham (UC '30). These scholarships give preference to the students with the highest grade point average in first, second and third year who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in a science program. Gift of his students, colleagues and friends in honour of Peter V. Marinelli (1933-93), professor of English in University College (1963-93). To be awarded for excellent performance by a University College student enrolled in the specialist program in English.

Bequest of Professor T.J. Meek (UC 1903), distinguished scholar and head of the Department of Near Eastern Studies of which he was a member from 1923 until 1952; professor emeritus until his death in 1966. Variable as to number and value. Gift of Bob Rae (UC '69) and Arlene Perly Rae (UC '71) in honour of Mr. Rae's parents. To be awarded to University College students, financial need will be the primary criterion in selecting the recipients.
