Samuel's Story
"I chose U of T because it was a prestigious school, and I knew I would be surrounded by students who were also motivated to learn and grow in their respective interests."
Samuel expressed to us how much awards and scholarships helped them during their time at university. To live in Toronto they had to work throughout high school and during their undergraduate degree. Sadly, in their fourth year, their apartment burned down in one of Toronto’s biggest house fires of 2021. After reaching out to UC to see if they could support them with emergency funding, the college generously supported them and helped alleviate some of the stress which allowed them to finish their degree. Because of the financial support from UC, and scholarships like the Elizabeth Ennis Award Samuel was in a much better position to advance their career without carrying an unmanageable amount of debt.
