Responsibilities

  • Working in the Morrison Hall or Whitney Hall Porter’s Office
  • Serving as a resource to residents with questions or concerns
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the building and its residents
  • Assessing, recording and responding to maintenance issues
  • Assessing, recording and responding to safety issues
  • Checking students in/out and issuing keys to residents
  • Additional duties, as assigned, to support the residences

Multiple daytime and overnight porter positions are available.

Daytime Porters are required to work 8 hours per week, consisting of two shifts between the hours of 8:00 am - midnight. This position includes the possibility of weekend shifts.  We will select shift times in consultation with successful candidates.

Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour (USW Casual)

Work location: Whitney Hall Porter’s Office (85 St George St) or Morrison Hall Porter’s Office (75 St George St).

Overnight Porters are required to work 8 hours per week, consisting of two shifts between the hours of midnight and 8:00 am. This position includes the possibility of weekend shifts.  We will select shift times in consultation with successful candidates.

Rate of pay: $15.75 per hour (USW Casual)

Work location: Whitney Hall Porter’s Office (85 St George St) or Morrison Hall Porter’s Office (75 St George St).

Applicant Requirements

  • Applicants must be registered as University College students and/or University College residents for the 2019-20 academic year.
  • Applicants do not need to be living in residence to be a Porter. Porters living off-campus are responsible for their own transportation to and from the residence for their shifts.

Selection Process

The selection process will include an application and interview. Applications should include a resume and a cover letter that includes if you are applying for the Daytime and/or Overnight Position(s) and if you are planning to be a resident of University College in the 2019-20 academic year.
