Influential Voices: An Evening with Justice Rosalie Abella
Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at University College for a screening of Without Precedent: The Supreme Life of Rosalie Abella followed by on on-stage conversation with Justice Rosalie Abella and Sali A. Tagliamonte, PhD, FRSC, Professor of Linguistics and Acting Principal of University College.
Justice Rosalie Abella was born in a Displaced Person's Camp in Stuttgart, Germany on July 1, 1946. Her family came to Canada as refugees in 1950. In 2004, Justice Abella was the first Jewish woman and first refugee appointed to the bench in Canada. She has 39 honorary degrees, and has won countless awards including the University College Alumni of Influence Award in 2012. Please click here to see her full bio.
