Tour of the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School
As part of University College’s (UC) ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation, we are inviting you to attend a virtual tour of the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School.
Developed by the Woodland Cultural Centre, this virtual tour follows guide Lorrie Gallant as she gives a tour of the institution and provides information on its 140-year history. Participants are brought into various spaces throughout the school and hear interviews with Mohawk Institute survivors. This virtual tour was developed to support the Save the Evidence campaign, which aims to raise awareness and support for the restoration of this school. Eventually, the goal is to develop the building into an Interpreted Historic Site and Educational Resource.
This virtual tour will take place on Tuesday, Nov 15 at 1:30 pm EST. To RSVP and receive the Zoom link for this tour, please fill out the registration form below.
We sincerely hope you will be able to join us for this important event that is intended to bring together our UC community and shine light on one of the darkest and most damaging colonial policies in Canadian history.
