Becky Vogan wins Margaret Procter Award for Excellence in Writing Instruction

Rebecca (Becky) Vogan, instructor at the UC Writing Centre since 2004,  was one of two inaugural winners of the Margaret Procter Award for Excellence in Writing Instruction.

Becky began her work as a writing instructor at Innis in 2003. She still teaches one-on-one at the Innis Writing Centre and is a long-standing course instructor in Innis's Writing and Rhetoric program. She also teaches in the Publishing program at Ryerson University and has distinguished herself as an editor of fiction and non-fiction since the early 2000s.

This award also aims to honour the lasting impact of Margaret Procter on writing at U of T. Margaret Procter served as director of the UC Writing Centre from 1991 to 2000, when she accepted the position of coordinator of writing support at U of T.

Finally, the co-recipient of the award, Georgia Wilder, got her writing centre start in 2000 at the UC Writing Centre. She now works at the New College Writing Centre and is director of English Testing Canada. Georgia’s collection of poems Atom-Bomb Nostalgia recently won a spot in Quattro Books "Best New Poets in Canada."
