Trio of UC Grads Brings their Startup To Elevate

University College alumni Samin Khan, Quinn Underwood, and Avery Wang are taking their startup, Animo, which uses AI to quantify psychological well-being, to ElevateR Pitch, a startup competition held as part of Elevate, Canada’s largest technology and innovation festival which takes place at MaRS Discovery District this week. 

Quinn has previously designed and implemented primary healthcare systems across South East Asia, Avery is a psychology and physiology researcher with a focus on the cultivation wisdom and psychometrics, and Samin is the 2018 world champion of Microsoft’s Imagine Cup - a technology competition where he beat out more than 40,000 teams from around the world, for developing an autonomous robotic prosthetic arm. The trio met during their first year at University College.
