Scholarships & Awards

Gift of the Florence M. Neelands chapter of the St. Margaret's College Alumnae Association, of the value of the annual income. To be awarded to a female student.

Gift of Mrs. Frederick Friedlander, in honour of her husband; this award is for a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the Third Year of the Commerce and Finance program.

These awards celebrate the mathematical theories of, as well as the myth surrounding, the brilliant French mathematician, Evariste Galois (1811-1832). The awards are to recognize the best University College students enrolled in the Mathematics Specialist program.

Gift of the Toronto Alumnae Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority; awarded to an outstanding female student. If there is no suitable candidate in third year, the award may be made in second year.

Bequest of Verna Pearl Fraser in memory of her late husband, George Roderick Fraser (UC 1928). For outstanding students entering University College intending to pursue mathematical studies, who come from Ontario schools outside “Metropolitan Toronto”.  The award value is $3,000 and is renewable up to 3 times for a total possible value of $12,000. The scholarships are renewable provided students achieve an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September. Students must be enrolled in full-time studies in order to receive a renewal of their scholarship. 

Of the value of the annual income; intended to help with the purchase of books. 

Founded by subscription in memory of Miss Gertrude Lawler. To be awarded in first year for English.

Bequest of Grace Agnes Fletcher (UC 1944), of the value of the annual income from the fund, for a student with excellent performance in a program sponsored by the Geography Department.

Established by the late Colonel H.J. Grasett, CMG, in memory of his brother, the late G.R. Grasett. It will be awarded to the student ranking highest with Grade A standing in classics, provided that his/her combined marks of the second and third years average 80 per cent. If no candidate qualifies, the scholarship may be awarded to a student of the fourth year who intends to pursue a course of graduate study in the University. 

A gift of Mr. Kuldip Neelam, Mr. Satbir Neelam and family in honour of Mrs. Gurdev Kaur Neelam with a value of the annual income of the fund. To be offered on admission, in recognition of service to the community, on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
