Bequest of Professor T.J. Meek (UC 1903), distinguished scholar and head of the Department of Near Eastern Studies of which he was a member from 1923 until 1952; professor emeritus until his death in 1966. Variable as to number and value. Gift of Bob Rae (UC '69) and Arlene Perly Rae (UC '71) in honour of Mr. Rae's parents. To be awarded to University College students, financial need will be the primary criterion in selecting the recipients. Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Paul Sussman and the late Mr. Samuel Smith, of the value of the annual income of the fund, to be awarded to a student, preferably in the fourth year, who is studying English and is in need of financial assistance. To be considered for this award, a student must be registered in SDS program and it must be awarded in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. The SDS Awards Committee makes its selection from among applicants on the basis of financial need and merit. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to students’ college membership.

Established by Hari Shanmugadhasan (UC’78) and matched by IBM Canada. The awards are to recognize the best University College students enrolled in the Mathematics Specialist Program. Established by Pamela Grace Whelan in honour of her mother, Grace Jeremy (UC '47). To be awarded to students from outside the GTA who are registered at University College and living in residence.
