Scholarships & Awards

To be awarded to a University College student proceeding to Second, Third or Fourth Year of any undergraduate program on the basis of academic merit.

Bequest of the late Miss Catherine S. Michell and Colonel William C. Michell, formerly principal of Riverdale Collegiate Institute. Awards are based on financial need. Academic merit may also be considered. Awards are variable in number and value depending on students’ financial need. Any balance of income may be used for in-course awards of variable value. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in any Canadian Studies program from any college will be eligible for this scholarship which will be awarded to the student with the highest annual grade point average.

Each of the value of approximately $500, to be awarded to students studying history.These prizes are given in honour of Eleanor and Moffatt Woodside (formerly principal of University College, 1959-63) by their sons Alexander, John and Michael and by many friends. (Two in each of second and third years)

These scholarships are a gift from the late Neil D. Graham (UC '30). These scholarships give preference to the students with the highest grade point average in first, second and third year who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in a science program. Established in 1946 in memory of Norma Epstein (UC ’45), the Norma Epstein Foundation Awards in Creative Writing is a competition held annually and is open to students enrolled in University College or to students from other Colleges who are enrolled in University College-sponsored or affiliated courses or programs. Awarded to a UC student pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Arts, based on academic merit, with a preference for a student in an English program.

Gift of his students, colleagues and friends in honour of Peter V. Marinelli (1933-93), professor of English in University College (1963-93). To be awarded for excellent performance by a University College student enrolled in the specialist program in English.
