Financial Need Awards
Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Paul Sussman and the late Mr. Samuel Smith, of the value of the annual income of the fund, to be awarded to a student, preferably in the fourth year, who is studying English and is in need of financial assistance. To be considered for this award, a student must be registered in SDS program and it must be awarded in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. The SDS Awards Committee makes its selection from among applicants on the basis of financial need and merit. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to students’ college membership.

Established by Pamela Grace Whelan in honour of her mother, Grace Jeremy (UC '47). To be awarded to students from outside the GTA who are registered at University College and living in residence. Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies
Awards will be made on the basis of financial need demonstrated through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or on the basis of information provided by an individual on the award application. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students from all U of T campuses, faculties, colleges and programs will be eligible, with no preference given to those enrolled in the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies programs or courses. The awards will be administered by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College in accordance with the University’s Policy on Student Awards and decisions about allocation will be made by its Student Awards Committee.  Although the primary consideration will be financial need, the Committee will also consider other factors such as outstanding volunteer contributions on or off campus aimed at increasing acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, as well as academic achievement. Awards are variable in number and value.

Gift from the grandchildren of William and Sheila Cowan (UC’41). To be awarded to second, third and fourth year students enrolled in the Humanities, with preference given to those majoring or specializing in History, and further preference to students who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, especially combat veterans or students who are their spouses, children or siblings.
