Scholarships & Awards

Bequest of the late Colonel R.W. Leonard to a full-time student of the University College in any year who is enrolled in the drama program.

Gift of R.O. Daly, QC (UC 1912); to be awarded to the student with the highest mark in FRE240.

Awarded on the basis of financial need to students enrolled in Health Studies or Sexual Diversity Studies Programs. Preference will be given to a 4th year student who has demonstrated academic excellence in gender or addiction issues related to social determinants of health. 

Bequest of Helen Eunice Stubbs (UC 1933) in memory of her father, Samuel James Stubbs. These awards (variable in number and value) are to assist students in third and fourth Years whose programs of study include courses in classics and/or English.  The basis of the decision will include financial need, professional interest and academic ability. 

Bequest of the late Samuel Joseph Granatstein (UC 1927), of the value of the annual income from the fund. To be awarded for general proficiency in first year.

Gift of graduates of University College and other friends of the late Professor Malcolm Wallace, former principal of University College and head of the Department of English. The award has a value of approximately $2,000 cash with a total possible value of $4,000, for excellence in any subject or for general proficiency. Awarded to a student intending to specialize in English. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full course equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Bequest of the late Florence Louisa Cody; awarded for general proficiency.

Gift of the late Sir John Gibson (UC 1863). The value is approximately $400 plus the tuition allowance for a total possible value of approximately $2,400 over four years; awarded for general proficiency. The scholarships include tuition allowance of $500 per year which is renewable with an annual grade point average of at least 3.50 on a course load of 4 full credit equivalents (FCEs) from September to September.

Endowed by the late Professor Squair; prize equals the value of the annual income from the fund to be used for books. 

Gift of the late J.S. McLean. The awards have a value of $1000 each; the number is determined by the balance of the income from the fund; awarded for general proficiency.
