Scholarships & Awards

These scholarships are a gift from the late Neil D. Graham (UC '30). These scholarships give preference to the students with the highest grade point average in first, second and third year who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in a science program. Bequest of Professor T.J. Meek (UC 1903), distinguished scholar and head of the Department of Near Eastern Studies of which he was a member from 1923 until 1952; professor emeritus until his death in 1966. Variable as to number and value. Gift of Bob Rae (UC '69) and Arlene Perly Rae (UC '71) in honour of Mr. Rae's parents. To be awarded to University College students, financial need will be the primary criterion in selecting the recipients. To be awarded to students registered at University College on the basis of financial need. Eligible candidates are identified through the University's UTAPS program.

A bequest of the late Shirley L. Muir (UC 1923), the value of this scholarship is the annual income from the fund. It is for a student with high standing and financial need. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.

Awards will be made on the basis of financial need demonstrated through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or on the basis of information provided by an individual on the award application. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students from all U of T campuses, faculties, colleges and programs will be eligible, with no preference given to those enrolled in the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies programs or courses. The awards will be administered by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College in accordance with the University’s Policy on Student Awards and decisions about allocation will be made by its Student Awards Committee.  Although the primary consideration will be financial need, the Committee will also consider other factors such as outstanding volunteer contributions on or off campus aimed at increasing acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, as well as academic achievement. Awards are variable in number and value. 

To assist UC students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to live in residence. The award must be made in accordance with the UofT Policy on Student Awards and OSOTF II / OTSS program guidelines. Awards will vary in number and value. Established by the generosity of the alumni and friends of University College through the Annual Fund (1996-97). These awards are intended to assist deserving University College students with the costs of university education.
