Established in honour of Kathleen Davis and William G. Davis (UC 1951), premier of the province of Ontario 1971-85, upon the occasion of his retirement as premier. In awarding the two scholarships preference will be given to students enrolled in a program in political science, the former premier’s main area of interest.

Gift of the late F.C.A. Jeanneret (UC 1912), formerly principal of University College and chancellor of the University, and the late Mrs. Jeanneret, in memory of their son, Kenneth Geikie Jeanneret, (UC 1939), who was killed in action in February 1945. The scholarship will be awarded where there may be special need for an award.

Graduating Year Awards
The Kiyoshi and Hana Shimizu Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Kiyoshi and Hana Shimizu by their son Tsutomu (UC 1951). This award is intended to support a student graduating from University College and going on to further study, who intends to make teaching his or her lifetime career. Preference will be given to those going on to primary- or secondary-school teaching, but post-secondary teaching will also be eligible. The award will be made on the basis of academic merit and dedication to the teaching profession. Financial circumstances may also be considered, but will not have priority.

These bursaries are a gift from the students and alumni of University College in honour of former principal D.V. LePan and former registrar R.M.H. Shepherd. The value of the bursaries is based on the annual income of the fund. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.

To award one or more bursaries, with a preference to UC students in an English program from the estates of Minnie White and her sister Lillian Lerenbaum (UC’31) in memory of Lillian Lerenbaum’s daughter Miriam. Eligible students are automatically considered.

Established by a gift of the University College Committee in appreciation of Professor Forguson’s term as principal of University College (1989-97), these awards are intended to assist University College students to benefit from the advantages of living in the college’s residences. Financial need is the primary criterion in selecting recipients, but academic merit and community involvement are also considered.
