Leanne De Souza - Kenney
Leanne De Souza-Kenney, MSc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Global and Public Health in the Human Biology Program and Health Studies Program, University College, at the University of Toronto. Dr. De Souza-Kenney is cross-appointed to the Institute for Life Course and Aging, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, and she holds the Alexander Lawson Distinguished Chair in Child Nutrition and Health. She is also the Inaugural Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Race and Health Policy. Her research examines health equity and the social determinants of health such as the effects of food insecurity on underserved and racialized communities. As a prevention scientist, she focuses on upstream approaches to modify risk factors for metabolic/obesity-mediated conditions like type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. Dr. De Souza-Kenney is Co-Chair of the Human Biology Program EDI committee and serves on the Steering Committee for the Sustainable Development Goals at the University of Toronto.
