Established by Professor Paul Perron, principal of University College, and his wife, Jacqueline Perron, in honour of her mother, Elisabeth Destout. To assist a student in any discipline to travel to France in connection with his or her studies. First preference for a student from University College; if no such suitable candidate is available, the award may be used to assist a student from any college who is enrolled in a program sponsored by the Department of French. Students who have just completed their undergraduate studies are eligible, as well as those in the midst of their studies. Should there be no suitable candidates available in any given year, a portion of the funds may be used to assist a University College student with travel to deliver a paper at a scholarly conference.

The gift of Elizabeth Brown (UC 1928) to perpetuate her contribution to Canada's role in less-favoured regions of the world. Miss Brown served with the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in Palestine, the International Refugee Organization in West Germany and the Foster Parents Plan in Vietnam and Australia. The fund assists undergraduate and graduate students to travel beyond North America in connection with their studies or future career plans, preferably in relation to Peace and Conflict Studies. Grants are variable, according to available funds and need.

Established by Eunice Croll Mouckley to support students in the study of Humanities at University College. To be awarded to full-time, undergraduate student(s) at University College studying Humanities on the basis of financial need. Awards will be limited to no more than two per year.

Gift of Edmund Clark (UC 1969) and Frances (Fletcher) Clark (UC 1969), these scholarships assist University College students with financial need who have excellent academic results in the sciences or in economics. They vary in number and value. At least one award is given out upon admission. In accordance with the requirements of the OSOTF program, the primary criterion is financial need.

Established in 1948 in memory of Professor Frederic Davidson (UC ’90), the Frederic Davidson Competition offers one prize of $2,000, one of $1,000, and one of $500 annually to any undergraduate student registered at UC, or whose submission is linked to work in a UC program or affiliated Centre, for any type of academic essay. Preference will be given to essays on English or French literature.

Established by Marguerite Ruth Dow (UC’49) in memory of her father Gordon Russell Dow (1887-1974). To be awarded to a University College student enrolled in Astronomy who has demonstrated financial need. Academic standing will also be considered.

The Gordon H. Southam Scholarships were established originally by the Southam family in memory of Gordon Hamilton Southam (UC 1907), killed in action in 1916. Intended to assist University College students with the costs of university education. The primary criterion for selecting recipients will be financial need. Also considered will be academic standing, and participation in extracurricular activities in the University.
