Scholarships & Awards

Gift of Dr. Herbert J. Davis, professor of English in University College and later Prefessor of Textual Criticism at Oxford University, in honour of his wife Mrs. Gertrud Davis.  To promote the exchange of students between University College and German universities.  The scholarship will be awarded to University College students doing university studies in Germany.  Both students in upper years and recent graduates are eligible.

Preference will be given to a student intending to specialize in Classics.

Awards will be made on the basis of financial need demonstrated through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or on the basis of information provided by an individual on the award application. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students from all U of T campuses, faculties, colleges and programs will be eligible, with no preference given to those enrolled in the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies programs or courses. The awards will be administered by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at University College in accordance with the University’s Policy on Student Awards and decisions about allocation will be made by its Student Awards Committee.  Although the primary consideration will be financial need, the Committee will also consider other factors such as outstanding volunteer contributions on or off campus aimed at increasing acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, as well as academic achievement. Awards are variable in number and value. 

Gift of the late Rt. Hon. Sir William Mulock, P.C., for many years Vice-Chancellor, and later Chancellor of the University. For a student in Classics.

Supported by donations from University College Alumni and awarded on the basis of academic merit or financial need. Eligible students are automatically considered.

Established by the generosity of the alumni and friends of University College through the Annual Fund (1996-97). These awards are intended to assist deserving University College students with the costs of university education. Bequest of the late Professor William Stafford Milner (UC 1941), of the value of the annual income. For excellence in Greek and Roman history, with preference to students studying the subject in the original languages and also taking more than one course in the field.
