Program Requirements
Your program requirements are always the ones in your Degree Explorer profile. Requirements can change from year to year - this is because new courses and/or opportunities will come available from time to time. The requirements below are the most recent ones. If you are already enrolled as a Health Studies student, and the list below does not match what you have in Degree Explorer, that is ok - Degree Explorer is correct for you.
If there is an Health Studies course that is new that you would like to take - and not in your Degree Explorer requirements - you still may be able to take it towards your program requirement - you may email health.studies@utoronto.ca for questions.
Please note that a NEW Major in Public Health will become available to new program candidates in March 2025. It is a change in curriculum from our current Health Studies Major. The Health Studies Major (ASMAJ2085) is last available for enrolment during the second round of program enrolment in Summer 2024. All Health Studies students will continue to be provided the same courses, curriculum, and opportunities as they always have, and will graduate with a Major in Health Studies. Their requirements in Degree Explorer will never change, they will be able to finish their program even if they choose to take 5-6 years to do so. Should any Health Studies students who are NOT in their final year (ie not graduating BEFORE June 2026) wish to switch to a Public Health Major, they can do so, but they must:1 ) complete the new Public Health curriculum; 2) not be graduating before June 2026; 3) acknowledge that a switch to Public Health is permanent - enrollment in the Health Studies major officially ended September 2024 and is no longer available as an enrollment option. More information on this will become available in March 2025.
This is a Type 2L limited enrolment program that can only accommodate a certain number of students. Consult the Arts & Science program enrolment website for application procedures.
