Financial Need Awards
These bursaries are a gift from the students and alumni of University College in honour of former principal D.V. LePan and former registrar R.M.H. Shepherd. The value of the bursaries is based on the annual income of the fund. Apply using the online grant application available on ACORN.

Financial Need Awards
Established by a gift of the University College Committee in appreciation of Professor Forguson’s term as principal of University College (1989-97), these awards are intended to assist University College students to benefit from the advantages of living in the college’s residences. Financial need is the primary criterion in selecting recipients, but academic merit and community involvement are also considered. Bequest of the late Isabelle Paris MacLachlan (UC 1911), of variable number and value within the limits of the annual income from the fund, available to female students. In awarding these scholarships, financial circumstances will be considered as well as academic standing. Graduating Year Awards
The Madeline Lake Turnbull Fellowship is the bequest of Madeline Turnbull (UC 1929). Of the value of the annual income from the fund, this award shall go to an outstanding student who is going on to do graduate work in French or who will have French as an important part of his or her course of study.

Travel Awards
Established by a bequest of Margaret Jean Leppington (UC 1950), this award assists University College students to travel abroad in order to study in the modern languages other than English. The value and number of scholarships are variable according to need and academic merit.

Graduating Year Awards
The Marlene Kirsch Korman Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded to the most highly qualified student (with at least A standing) graduating from University College with a BSc and entering a professional school or faculty.

Leadership Awards
Gift of friends and colleagues of Mary Jane Hendrie (UC 1981) who died in the Korean Airline incident of 1983. This award is intended for a student with financial need who has contributed to college life by participating in athletics or other extracurricular activities.

Bequest of the late Miss Catherine S. Michell and Colonel William C. Michell, formerly principal of Riverdale Collegiate Institute. Awards are based on financial need. Academic merit may also be considered. Awards are variable in number and value depending on students’ financial need. Any balance of income may be used for in-course awards of variable value.
