Cognitive Science

Arriba Travel Award for Cognitive Science

To be awarded to one or two domestic undergraduate students enrolled in a Cognitive Science major to travel outside Canada to gain further experience in Cognitive Science. Eligible students must demonstrate both financial need and the academic merit of their travel's purpose. Preference will be given to University College students.

Canadian Studies

Canadian Studies Award

Recipients will be chosen by the Director of the Canadian Studies Program in consultation with the UC Registrar. Awards shall be distributed to undergraduate students who are pursuing courses with a focus in Canadian Studies at the University of Toronto. Awards may be distributed to students for a variety of reasons including: merit based scholarships; unforeseen educational expenses; need based bursaries; leadership and research awards; or other student aid needs as determined by the Committee. Scholarships and awards will be given to students without regard to student’s college membership, faculty or campus.

Canadian Studies Award in Jewish History

To be awarded to students in Canadian Jewish History based on academic merit on the recommendation of the Director of the Canadian Studies program in University College.

Canadian Studies Interdisciplinary Prize

The Canadian Studies Interdisciplinary Prize, generously supported by Peter Warrian, is awarded to an undergraduate student who writes the best essay on any interdisciplinary aspect of Canadian life, thought, or society and is in financial need. The student must be in the Canadian Studies program or enrolled in a University college (UNI) course that is sponsored by the Canadian Studies department.

David & Vivian Campbell Scholarship in Canadian Studies

The David and Vivian Campbell Scholarship in Canadian Studies  is awarded to an undergraduate student in the Canadian Studies program who demonstrates financial need. Students from any college are welcome to apply however they must be enrolled in the Canadian Studies program (minor, major or specialist students are equally eligible).

Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies

David Rayside Scholarships in Sexual Diversity Studies

Two scholarships will be awarded annually on the basis of academic merit; the first to a student with the most distinguished overall academic performance, who is completing his or her graduating year with a Specialist program in Sexual Diversity Studies; the second to an undergraduate completing either a Specialist or a Major in Sexual Diversity Studies combined with an academic interest in the study of politics (through a degree in a politically-relevant program, such as Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations or Equity Studies), or a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Both award recipients will be chosen by the University College Registrar upon the recommendation of the Mark S. Bonham Centre’s Awards Committee. Open to students from outside University College.

Don and Gar Yin Hune (Xu) Undergraduate Essay Award in Chinese-Canadian Community Studies

This fund is intended to support an undergraduate essay award in the area of Chinese Canadian community studies which will be open to all U of T undergraduate students. Applications to be submitted to the Canadian Studies Program Office in University College

Health Studies

Dr. Carolyn Bennett OTSS Scholarship

Awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.  Preference will be given to students who are in Specialist Programs in Health Studies who are also conducting research as part of their studies. 
Recipients must satisfy the eligibility requirements of the OTSS program.

Emperor I. Sergio Apolloni Scholarship

For a student who has achieved excellent results in the Sexual Diversity Studies Program. The Director will be consulted regarding appropriate candidates. Open to all students in the Sexual Diversity Studies Program, regardless of college affiliation.

Frederic Davidson Writing Awards

Established in 1948 in memory of Professor Frederic Davidson, the Frederic Davidson Competition offers one first prize of $1,000, one second prize of $500 and one third prize of $250 each year for essays on English or French literature.
