To be awarded on the basis of financial need to a University College undergraduate student who has participated in student life and leadership activities in the university community, with a preference for activities at University College. This award is in recognition of the financial challenge of making a volunteer commitment. This award is given with the intention of making a positive extracurricular experience accessible for all students for the upcoming academic year. Selection is based on the recommendation of a subcommittee consisting of the registrar, dean of students, co-ordinator of student life and at least two members of the Literary and Athletic Society executive. Awards will vary in number and value.

Established by Dorel Callendar in memory of her husband, Victor Callendar (UC 1959), and supported by family and friends. To be awarded at admission to a student born or raised in the Caribbean, with preference to students from Grenada. Recipients must be registered at University College and will be selected on the basis of academic merit. Financial need may also be considered.

Gift of Mrs. van der Smissen in memory of her husband, formerly head of the Department of German in University College; scholarship is of the value of the income and awarded to the student who obtains the highest Grade A standing in German.

Scholarship of the value of the income from the fund, in memory of the late William Robert Taylor, former principal of University College and head of what was the Department of Oriental Languages. If no student in the third year qualifies, the scholarship may be awarded in another year.

The Wanda O’Hagan Scholarship is awarded to a Canadian Studies undergraduate student who has demonstrated a commitment to women’s equality and is in financial need. The prize is awarded based on both academic and extracurricular activity. To be eligible, the student must be enrolled in at least one University College course sponsored by the Canadian Studies Program in the year for which the award is given.
