The competition is held biennially and is open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in any Canadian University. Established in 1963 in memory of Norma Epstein (UC ’45), from surpluses accumulated in the fund, it supports prizes of up to a total of $2,000, each year in the categories of Poetry, Drama, Novel, Short Story, and Other Prose.

To provide funding for undergraduate students who identify as LGBTQ or who are pursuing studies with a focus on sexual diversity at the University of Toronto. The awards will be based on financial need and academic merit with a preference for Canadian residents. These awards will be made in consultation with the Sexual Diversity Studies Awards Committee. Awards will vary in number and value and will be open to students of other colleges and divisions of the University.
